helping you meet your market...

Picture

That's really what my consulting practice is all about...
helping you meet your market. After all, that's what we're all interested in, isn't it? A better understanding of our customers and their market. More customers. Shorter sales cycles. The right prospects. More sales. Stronger profits. Repeat sales. Talking to the right people. When I look at all the projects I've been associated with over the last twenty years, they have one thing in common... selling something, including ideas, about products and new companies.

You're on my site to learn something about me and what I can offer you so first, thanks for visiting. Let me give you some straight information on how I do business since it is an important consideration (especially today) when looking to hire someone on the outside. How I do business and my fees are published so you know upfront how I work. I do not price the neighborhood:)

My specialties are sales, distribution, market research, business development and internet marketing for life science companies (especially young companies). Since I'm a bit of a science aficionado (have loved it since I was a little boy), I am conversant in quite a few technologies. If you'd like to keep tabs on my thinking and what I see that is new you are welcome to sign up for my newsletter (about 3-4 issues a year) and/or visit my YouTube Channel!

Last, I am a bit of a maverick. I tend to look at things differently and I always question the status quo. For the start-up these days, being able to see ways around a problem without subscribing to any particular doctrine is important. I consider this an important feature of what I offer to my clients.

So enjoy going through my site, sign up for my every-once-in-a-while newsletter and drop me a note to say hi. At the very least, we will both have met someone new.

September, 2017: I am re-launching CrowdElephant, LLC (www.crowdelephant.com) and am pretty excited about it. Pretty soon I'll be moving all to CrowdElephant and just using SciBiz International to talk about new things happening in my businesses. It's amazing that I have hit 25 years as an independant consultant... I'm pretty proud of that! I can't buy a house in the south of France, but I made a living and was there for my kids as they grew up, sent them to college, and was there for my wonderful mother-in-law. I will also be launching A Caregiver's Map website to help folks who are caregivers,  and publishing a short book titled 10,157 Days With My Mother-in-Law. Time is flying by and I must thank all who I've worked with over the years. In all my projects I have tried my very best. I will always appreciate your business!

July, 2016: Need a seminar/webinar on Business Development & Sales for your company? Send an email to me regarding your requirements and let's chat.

June, 2016: CrowdElephant will be up and running soon. We'll be focusing on providing expertise (services and education) in a new program called 'Breaking & Entering'. Stay tuned!

February, 2016: If you are a company looking to ramp up sales — maybe you're a start-up or a company with below-par sales — then you have to look at your overall plan and level of sales and marketing activities. This year will mark the start of my Sales Pipeline Academy (more info to come) on all aspects of sales and business development including offline and online activities you have to master. Why am I setting up an institute? Because here's how the conversation goes with most over-50 year old CEOs and C-Level executives. They contact me because they need more sales... I tell them they need to use the internet more and create smarter sales activities, they ask me to send them a proposal... and then they balk. There is a belief factor gap between what I am telling them about using social media and what they think about social media. It is 2000 all over again, when companies argued the internet was not a place to do business. So, instead of spending lots of money on me doing the work (or most often not doing it at all!), why not spend a fraction of that cost learning how to do it? The other side is sales training... in our highly technical marketplace we are very good at technology specs and the training behind it, but we are terrible at training how to effectively work with our prospects and customers. Mentorship is almost zero. The way we interact with our market — electronically or face-to-face — will dictate what kind of sales we can expect.

My idea for a referral business called CrowdElephant is on hold; still trying to figure out how to create an offering that makes sense.

Currently working with a mass spectrometry software vendor and a biological CRO. Working on a book about my mother-in-law, and two more novels. Limiting my client time to set up my new institute... we'll see what happens! In the meantime... enjoy life!
February, 2015: Wow... I can't believe we're in a new year... again. On the personal side, my mother-in-law, Gladys, passed away on November 10th, 2014 at the age of 98. She was quite a lady and although I know it was her time, I do miss her. That said, her leaving this planet has totally free'd me up for many more projects that have been on the back burner for many years, so I'm excited to present you, my marketplace, with some leading edge and innovative services. Stay tuned.

CrowdElephant is coming back to life with my first client; a company focused entirely on providing better tools for biomarker discovery and development. Their technology can provide 10x to 20x sensitivity increases with  very little change to the assay. Pretty cool. If you're interested, send me an email and we can chat!

I am working with a cytokine reagent company going GMP, a magnetic particle measurement company with some very exciting technology and a biological contract manufacturer who is making quite a move on the market. If any of these are interesting let me know!

I wish everyone a fantastic 2015, and especially when it comes to health and happiness. Remember, no one ever places their bank balance on their tombstone. :)

November, 2014: 2014 was another interesting year. Took much of the year to take care of some family issues, including placing my mother-in-law in hospice; that is ongoing as of this writing. My novel, Late Whistle, was finally published on Amazon and have several new books, fiction and non-fiction in production for 2015.

My consulting practice included placing CrowdElephant back in development; it's amazing what you learn when you launch a service... sometimes you have to jump in bed with the market to really find out how it'll go! I have worked several projects with a biological CMO, a cytokine company, a magnetic particle company and several start-ups.

Last, I turned 60 this year! And while most of my peers are talking retirement, I am just getting started! Too much life to live before the bocci court, rocking chair and nursing home!

January, 2014: Just launched v1.0 of CrowdElephant, LLC for the life science marketplace. This is a disruptive information distribution company that will provide a new way for life science businesses to work with their marketplace. Using independent Referral Partners to provide new information for their very best customers, and gathering new information for CrowdElephant Clients, we provide a fast, economical, actionable and new way to help companies meet their market. For more information please visit the CrowdElephant site; if you are interested in becoming a Referral Partner, please visit the CrowdElephant Referral Partner site.

What is my #1 job? Increase your sales!

Why the net is your #1 competitive advantage!

December, 2013: Where did 2013 go? This has been a year of new projects; I built a website for Goodwin Biotechnology, worked with very imaginative microfluidics company Trianja Technologies, and founded a new marketing company launching January 1st, 2014.

December, 2012: Busy days ahead with multiple clients in materials science, contract manufacturing, microfluidics, cancer Dx, scaffold medical devices... if you're interested in a free consultation regarding your life science business challenges Click here :) Looking forward it

August, 2012: Live survey on 3D cell culture plates... tell us what you think! Click here :)

News Flash: In New Orleans week of March 12... working with a group of life science experts assessing the city's efforts in building a life science foundation... to learn more please visit www.beNOLAbound.com... thanks!

SciBiz Update (March, 2012): Headed to New Orleans (NOLA) March 13th - 18th for a unique life science project. I was selected along with 26 others to assess how NOLA is doing since Katrina in several market segments; my focus, of course, will be biotechnology and life sciences and how to improve their business foundation. To follow along, you can get updates on the beNOLAbound site; I'll be reporting soon!

SciBiz Update (March, 2012): Working on a new assay for staging and grading of bladder cancer; it is an assay with great promise. I am helping a French company enter the United States by designing a landing site and using social networks to spread the word and gather interested parties (leads!). I am also advising on marketing and distribution issues and overall messaging. Very cool!

SciBiz Update (November, 2011)
: Wrapping up 2011 and starting to build my project foundation for 2012. I am currently considering projects in business development for a protein biomarker technology, lead generation for a CMO and business development for a new detection platform for molecular Dx. Let me know if you are looking for assistance for your 2012 mission; we can discuss and see if we have a fit. Thanks.

SciBiz Update (August, 2011): Spending time weaving social media and internet marketing into the business efforts of several life science companies. Why not use video marketing (YouTube and video-on-site), send-a-card marketing (direct mail using one-off online printing technology which is dirt cheap), text marketing (imagine a sign by your booth or your site that says 'text proteomics to 90210' and collect the data you can then market to) and specially made landing sites to collect leads online (ask me about this!).

SciBiz Update (June, 2011): Currently working lead generation and market research projects in the stem cell, regenerative medicine, biosimilars and CMO markets; if you have an important project related to these markets and need more bandwidth to get it done please drop me a note to discuss.
